What led you to computer programming?
“I started computer programming as a kid. Choosing to major in Computer Science in college was natural. I was programming computers wasn’t something I decided to do; it was something I’ve always done.”
What is your favorite thing about being a computer scientist?
“Problem-solving real-world or abstract issues. I prefer solving problems like those at CIBO because it feels like the solutions will add meaning to the world.”

What brought you to CIBO?
“I hadn’t worked in agriculture, and I thought the field sounded interesting. I met Jackson and realized we saw some things the same way about how to create the platform. I was attracted to the people and the field.”
What are your primary responsibilities at CIBO?
“I turn fragmented sets of ideas and designs into something useable. Since we have a handful of people working on the app, we have to handle a lot of ambiguity and make decisions on the spot then work with people to improve the outcomes.”
What do you find the most rewarding about your work here?
“Since we’re such a small team, we get good and bad feedback right away. I like the size and speed. I’ve worked places that you submit something, hear feedback a week later. At CIBO, you get to solve it right then.”
