Irena Lanc

Software Engineer

I came to CIBO from a background in bioinformatic research with a focus on genomics. I am

interested in how work done at the intersection of science and engineering can leverage advanced computational methods to tackle some of the most difficult problems facing people, whether it’s human diseases or the complexities of large-scale agriculture. CIBO’s model of plant growth exemplifies this type of effort; I was drawn to the possibilities of being a part of the team that’s working to explore the capabilities of sophisticated agronomic modeling in a variety of contexts, from climate change scenarios to sustainability assessments. My work at CIBO involves providing engineering support in the model development process by implementing improvements and extending capabilities.
