How many generations has your family been farming? 

“My family has been farming for four generations.”

Where are your operations and within what geography do you operate?

“We operate in Mississippi in the lower end of the Mississippi Delta in four counties.” 

What crops do you grow and how diverse is your operation?

“The operation primarily grows cotton, corn, and soybeans. In the past, we have also grown rice.” 

Why did you decide to get into farming?

“To continue the family business.” 

What is your favorite part of farming?

“The stewardship of the land.” 

What is one thing that would surprise people about farming? 

“The complexity of farming.” 

What tech do you use today to look at land/do business? 

“We use multiple platforms in our operations. Several examples are MyJohnDeere, AI 360, Climate FieldView, SureTrack Farm, Grainsight, and AgSense.”

What is the biggest issue facing farming today? 

“Maintaining profitability and sustainability.”  

What kinds of things do you think we should be doing to encourage more people to pursue a career in agriculture? 

“To use data to drive farming operations.” 

Why did you decide to join the CIBO Farmer Advisory Network?

“To get insight into how others view and understand data-driven decisions in the farming community.” 

What are you hoping to get out of the board? 

“What from the farmer view is the best way to apply data functionally at the farm level.” 

What type of feedback are you looking forward to contributing to the board? 

“How to better understand and document the use of machine-driven data to accomplish desired goals.”
